HANNA - Movie Review
FANDANGO.COM Blurb:
Raised by her father (Eric Bana), an ex-CIA man, in the wilds of Finland, Hanna’s upbringing and training have been one and the same, all geared to making her the perfect assassin. The turning point in her adolescence is a sharp one; sent into the world by her father on a mission, Hanna journeys stealthily across Europe while eluding agents dispatched after her by a ruthless intelligence operative with secrets of her own (Cate Blanchett). As she nears her ultimate target, Hanna faces startling revelations about her existence and unexpected questions about her humanity.
MY REVIEW:
Okay, I was sucked in when I first saw the movie trailer. Heck, I was like wow, this has a lot of potential. Well, what can I say...the trailer picked out the best part of the movie. Oh, and I giggled at the flaming gay assassin, the woman who was HANNA's nemesis who I never quite figured out why she had to kill the girl. It started with the mystery of what Hanna was, why she had to find this woman, and why they wanted her. Bottom line, the action, violence, fight scenes were plenty, but the story just wasn't feasible or well developed. The actress that played HANNA did a great job, but the rest of the movie just...didn't have enough to carry this for me. I gave it 2 out of 5 punches.
WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO:
Harry Potter...need I say more?
CAPTAIN AMERICA
PRIEST
X-Men: First Class
Stay tuned I'm going to the movie next week...you never know, it might be something REALLY GOOD!
SO WHAT YOU WATCHIN? READING?
I haven't seen HANNA so I can't really agree or diagree with your review, but the premise of the movie's plot sounds very exciting. Also, the fact that she's trained to be an assassin/agent reminds me of Alex Rider.
ReplyDeleteThe actress was really good and carried the movie in my personal opinion. Yes, she was trained as an assassin and she was good at it, but the underlying plot or twist to why wasn't clearly defined. That's where it lacked for me. And everyone...that she cared about was killed, now there was an ending, but it kinda left you hanging. It wasn't horrible, I just expected more. And it wasn't as good as Alex Rider.
ReplyDeleteI'll wait until it comes out on video. ☺ Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI had been contemplating going to see this. Still on the fence. I agree, the trailer had me hooked. Thanks so much for sharing. I love reading your reviews. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI like finding movie reviews online, and so glad to find an honest one. :D It's tough to get out for a date night anyway, it's good to know what to focus on. And HP? OH YEAH! Can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with E. Arroyo. Netflix will send it to me and I can do something to entertain myself if it doesn't come through as compelling.
ReplyDeleteThanks, LM.
I'm curious about Hanna, but for some reason it looks like it would be predictable. I still may need to see it, tho. :)
