SUZY TURNER and the MORGAN SISTERS SERIES

Can you tell us a little about your latest book?

My latest one is actually a chick lit book called Forever Fredless. But perhaps I should talk about my previous novel, The Temporal Stone which comes under the YA urban fantasy genre.

Here's a brief summary:
It's been a couple of months since Emma and Lana entered the Praxos Academy and life has been hectic ever since. What with regular A level classes combined with learning all about the supernatural world, control classes, self defence and fight night, the girls are constantly busy.
But when their world seems to stop right in front of them, they and their fellow Watchers have a huge mystery to solve. A mystery which will lead them on a long road trip across south west England where they will meet all kinds of strange creatures, some intent on causing harm and others desperate to put a stop to the problem.

What inspired you to write it?
It was a guy I met whilst working on a movie a couple of years ago. He was the main actor - gorgeous, so much fun and really down to earth. We clicked immediately and became buddies. He's kind of like a brother and I just knew back then that I wanted to base a character on him. The character's name is Declan Alexander and he's quite an important character in the series. In fact the series just developed from him!

If it was made into a movie, who would you like to play the main characters?
For the two main sisters, it would have to be a young Vivien Leigh lookalike for Emma Jane Morgan and a younger Gabrielle Union for Lana Beth - but both would have to be British!
Mark Killeen (my buddy) would definitely play Declan and Aishwarya Rai would play Saleena.

Why do you write in this genre?
I have two absolute favourite genres and they are chick lit and YA urban fantasy. I just get sucked into them both which is why I like to write them too.

What made you want to become an author?
I'm not sure. Maybe because I've always had a passion for books, for great stories and book stores. I could spend hours and hours just browsing all those wonderful tactile books! Before I started writing full time, I worked in the publishing industry, so I was always writing. I guess it just developed from there.

Name one of your all-time favorite books?
A Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood... A.M.A.Z.I.N.G

Who, or what, inspires you?
People, places, music, feelings, dreams... I am inspired by everything around me.

Where is your favorite place to write?
At home where it's warm and cozy. I don't have an office though. Eventually I'd like to live in a house with my own little office which I plan to turn into my very own den, with forest wallpaper and fairy lights!

What is your favorite movie that was based on a book?
Harry Potter, hands down!

Who is your favorite author (s) and why?
Oh I have so many! Shalini Boland and Melissa Pearl are two of my all time favourite YA authors - their stories just totally wow me. Poppet for scary stories. Belinda Jones for chick lit. JK Rowling and Stephenie Meyer for obvious reasons!

Tell us a random fact about yourself.
I have a belly button piercing ;)

Who would play you in the movie about your life?
Sandra Bullock - I just adore her!

Tell us something interesting about the area where you live.
I live in the Algarve, Portugal - famous for it's delicious chicken piri piri!

Suzy Turner has worked as a journalist, assistant editor, features editor and magazine editor. Early in 2010 however, she began writing full time and has since completed six books for young adults: The Raven Saga trilogy and The Morgan Sisters series.
Although Suzy is a Yorkshire lass at heart, she left her home town of Rotherham, UK,
to move to Portugal with her family when she was ten. The Algarve continues to be her home, where she lives with her childhood sweetheart and husband of 15 years, Michael, and their two neurotic dogs and a cat who thinks she's a princess.

The WRITER's HOLIDAY RUSH

So at the year's end, with all the Christmas shopping, Thanksgiving pig outs, we have the WRITER's DASH!

THE WRITER'S END OF YEAR MADNESS

So if you are like me and plan your books out for the next year based on what you've written this year, then you are busting your tail to get all your drafts done for your next year's releases.

THERE's NANOWRIMO in November

I use Nanowrimo in November to push me to write fast and finish up any unfinished manuscripts I have floating around. Sometimes it helps, other times, not so much.

THERE's MARKETING planning to be done by December

Yes, this is where I set up my dreaded marketing budget, hopes, dreams for the next year.

THE MADNESS?

Every year I kick myself for finishing all the above at the last possible moment. My hope is to do all my writing for 2014 by October 30th. Take November 1st - December 30th off and just let my promos for those months run with little help.

IT NEVER turns out the way we plan.

And again this year, I'm 1.5 book short of my goals set at the beginning of the year.

YOU?

COVER LOVE...ENVY...LUST?

Ahhhhh.....my first book I fell in love with had a....

GORGEOUS cover!

I have to admit, that if they are going to try to get me to purchase a book it's got to do the following.

ATTRACT ME! Yep, love at first sight is a big deal when it comes to catching a reader.

FIT IN! It's got to fit in with what my expectations are for the genre. No! No! No! I do not like the 'Bait then Switch' where you put a sexy guy with brown hair on the cover but the hero has red hair! That's just wrong.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD! The cover must highlight aspects from the book that are intriguing. Yep, it has to be perceived from the cover. Don't give too much away but tease me a bit.

Lastly....

BACK IT UP with a great story.

Here are some great COVERs that I have envy ... uh LOVE for presented by my fellow authors in

Hunter by KC Blake

Need another great Halloween read? Well get your VAMP fix on with HUNTER by KC Blake!

Hunter begins with Bay-Lee in Maine, living a normal life—sort of. It's impossible to completely banish the supernatural when your boyfriend is a ghost. Nick insists he isn't sticking around to haunt her. According to him, he wants to protect her. But that doesn't make sense. Why would he be concerned about her when it was her fault he'd died?

She's in History, taking a test, and Nick pops in with a warning. The Order (monsters living in the Spirit Realm) have put a hefty bounty on her head. Nick wants her to go home to her father in New Zealand where she will be safe, but she's determined to graduate from the school in Maine. Everything seems to be fine. Why should she run from something that 'might' happen?

Then a reaper tries to collect the bounty.

Bay-Lee will return to her father's school and begin her training anew, despite the fact Nick's brother doesn't want her there. An old enemy returns, and a familiar student threatens her relationship with Nick. It doesn't help that Nick thinks he should leave her for her own good. Surviving is her number one priority. Keeping the love of her life at her side is a close second. Together, they will battle reapers, their inner demons, and each other in this YA paranormal romance with bite.

BAIT the first book in the series is FREE at Amazon, Smashwords, etc.

"Mom always says the angels walk among us. She forgot to tell me that sometimes they're not all fluffy and nice."

Seventeen-year-old Caleb Wood has seen people he calls the walkers since he was a baby. It didn't take long for him to realize something…no one can see these strangers but him. They never stuck around or tried to touch him. And they never said a word. That was until one day on the first day of class in his senior year when an incredibly gorgeous girl strolls into his life…and things are never the same again.

Soon Caleb realizes he has stepped into the middle of a growing conflict between two ancient groups. And his ability to see the invisible ones, the half-breeds that want to modify the human race, just might be the only hope both he and the mysterious, but infuriating, Gia, have of making it out alive.

I live in the City of Alchemy and Medicine, North Carolina. I write about people doing fantastical things in magical worlds. Sometimes they fall for each other and make sacrifices for their friends. Oh, and sometimes they love music and nature too. I live with my two sons,a guinea pig, a cat, and two dogs. Now that I have completed my MFA in creative writing, I find that I have a little extra time to play CLUE more often. I live in an L-shaped house dedicated to my grandmother. It has a secret library complete with fairies, venetian plastered walls, and a desk made out of clear blue glass.
